Club President will
recognize those requesting to conduct business
§
To Bring a Motion
before the Club
o
Stand to be recognized
o
Chairman recognizes
the speaker
§
State the Motion
o
“I move that _____” or
“I move for adoption of ____”
§
The Motion cannot be
discussed until seconded and if not seconded it is lost.
o
Any member, other than
the one who made it, may second the motion
§
Club President will
repeat the Motion and ask if there is any discussion.
§
All desiring to
participate in discussion must first be recognized by the
chair.
o
One member may have
the floor at a time.
o
Chair recognizes
speakers for both sides of the discussion.
o
No member dominates
the discussion.
§
The discussion may be
closed by a member by calling for the issue to vote.
§
If the Chair
determines all discussion is complete the Chair will
repeat the Motion and call for a vote.
§
Voting will be by
Acclamation-by ‘Aye’ and ‘No’
o
Voting may also
require a show of hands, roll call or balloting.
o
President normally
will not vote but has discretion to do so.
§
President will
announce the vote.
§
If ‘Aye’s’ have it the
motion carries.
§
If ‘No’s’ have it the
motion is lost. |
